WorkersMemDay2010On Wednesday April 28, workers across America observed Workers’ Memorial Day, to remember fellow workers who have died and suffered from poor working conditions. Each year hundreds of thousands of workers are placed in toxic environments that result in illness, injury and death. Hazardous substances kill 440,000 workers annually – asbestos claims 100,000 lives alone. One worker dies every 15 seconds worldwide. 6,000 workers die every day. Work kills more people than wars.

Close allies SoCalCOSH and UCLA-LOSH will hosted a similar LA event.  Both events featured guest speakers fighting for cleaner, safer workplaces addressing the theme “Mourn for the dead, Fight for the living” as they continue to put pressure on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to create a safer workplace in America.
